THE ICE CREAMS / You Ought To Know

Just last week, GF veterans stopped into the studio and produced the latest single for The Ice Creams. It’s a cherry cheerful-chang along, with no time at all to explain all that needs to be explained, there’s 1000 things I want to say to you. Go enjoy this pre-mono-trix-mix and hopefully we’ll get this squeezed onto the upcoming Ice Creams Gypsy WAX..LOOKOWTNOW.

UNCLE GOO on WOLF RADIO

GF artist, “UNCLE GOO” will be performing on Waylin’s Pub this evening and broadcast on West Georgia’s “THE WOLF” internet radio station and judging by the amount of burbon bottles left in Goo’s dressing room (and charged to GF, no doubt), we expect a lively performance and our hearts go out to Waylin.  Catch UNCLE GOO tonight at 8pm/9pm by listening live via this LINK.

ELF POWER at GF

ELF POWER has set up camp in the GF Studio and commenced to colorfully churning OWT all kinds of goodness.  Thank YEW Laura for the tea basket.  I remember seeing the band back in 2008 at the Georgia Theatre (Pre-Burn) and fell in love-and onto the floor soon after.   Here they are doing “Jane” from 1999’s “A Dream In Sound” (OTR) and was produced by  Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips).  STAY TOONED

OLD SMOKEY in the STUDIO

OLD SMOKEY found themselves in our studio recently. Rolling in from Athens GA, This band OOZES colorful melodies and drives their Psych-Folk sound with dark rhythms that is bound to tickle yer toes.  They arrived by way of one car overheating and pushing through 105+ degree weather;  Settling into the GF studio – Jim, John, Jacob, Jason and Rob – have created something that we feel falls along the lines of a lost cut, snapped from the Original Wicker Man Soundtrack with the attitude of Lou Reed and the VU. If we may BE SO BOLD.

Here we have a single from their session. A FANTASTIC TUEWNE entitled “LAZY EYE”

ZZ Ryder touches base with GF

GYPSY FARM field reporter, ZZ RYDER sent this to our door step last week.   He tells tall tails of GF’s third release, an upcoming show at Georgia Theatre and what really get’s his “BLOOD BOILING”  : : : :

OO BABY SUMMER 2012! Please accept my introduction to Gypsy Farm Records’ 11-Bones-of- Blues garage album GYPSNOSIS because it is like a DRUGTRIP!! It features Athens punx The Humms, Rodney Kings, Ice Creams, along with other desolated souls who made it into the studio such as These Magnificent Tapeworms, Ghost Lights, and Uncle Skunkle. And I’m sure that every girl falls in love each time those sweet babeez hear those psychedelic hustlers The Rodney Kings hoss-howlin’ on “I Wanna Meet you”! As the first GFR album to be pressed on vinyl, these gypsy boo-nanas have climbed on up the Naked Monkey Staircase. This same rekkid will be headed all over the world, via CD and download as well. I wonder when the single track “Roller Derby Girl” could’ve even had its garagey coolness contained inside the GYPSY FARM studio, and still maintained its influence of strychnine each time you hear it —- maybe they’ve channeled Stiv Bators’ ghost. It’s so strange — way harder than grunge rock — more roots punk style. Not to mention, right now I’m remembering These Magnificent Tapeworms showing me how it’s done on multiple occasions live. Some of these recordings date back to 2008, but it’s clear that nothing’s changed there, coming out of the cloud of 2011. Continue reading “ZZ Ryder touches base with GF”
