OLD SMOKEY PREMIERES “LEGGY” VIDEO

Local weavers of the string dream known as “Old Smokey” have finished their debut record, titled “Wester Easter” and may we say, it’s an ear tickling treasure for sure. While we have not confirmed when it is to be released, our morning feeds are still spurting streams of magic via Robert Lomax’s direct vimeo line that reevealed a new video of the band’s latest single, “Leggy”. Shot on the spot at GFR, the clip captures cameo appearances by GF patrolmen Sgt Boogie and Funkin Duncan. Watch and Share via the player below :

WWHITE RATTT

Here at GF, We’ve been tickling the musical catalog of Athens’ HAM1 for well over the past year. Although the band is now defunct and no longer together, they’ve left behind countless capsules that shall not cease to be re-discovered as time grows into future. “WHITE RAT” is one tune especially charming to the emotional ear, plucked directly from “The Captain’s Table” record (2007 / Orange Twin Records). It grooves, prooves and mooves your thought process; alarming the mellow moods that your mind has stored away for the day. OLD SMOKEY in the STUDIO

OLD SMOKEY found themselves in our studio recently. Rolling in from Athens GA, This band OOZES colorful melodies and drives their Psych-Folk sound with dark rhythms that is bound to tickle yer toes. They arrived by way of one car overheating and pushing through 105+ degree weather; Settling into the GF studio – Jim, John, Jacob, Jason and Rob – have created something that we feel falls along the lines of a lost cut, snapped from the Original Wicker Man Soundtrack with the attitude of Lou Reed and the VU. If we may BE SO BOLD.

Let’s Go On and On and On (Ham1)

You may remember seeing these cats around Athens, and if you do then I’m sure you remember how it touched you, in some way or another. “Let’s Go On and On and On” is the 4th album by Ham1. The following is a review of this little 2010 gem put out by Cleft Records.

Ham1’s 2010 release “Let’s Go On and On and On” is an album of beautifully executed guitar tones and mixes that teem with sonic gifts for any listener.
