Upcoming: The Humms “Pelzer Fuck Club”

Long-time lovers of experimental group, The Humms, can now preorder the band’s forthcoming album on digital, vinyl or cassette, from Gypsy Farm Records (catalog #GF013).

Titled, Pelzer Fuck Club, the album is due out August 30th, & offers 12-spanking new selections, courtesy of the ole gang that only recently returned from their decade-long slumber with Vampire Hours back in 2020.

Sources close to the band claim that this difference in turnaround time, when compared to their first two records, can be credited to the record’s producer, Skud Harris.

“One of the huge beasts of this 2022” Tremendo Garaje

“Skud has a creative way of absorbing the band’s energy, both positive & negative, that would certainly, otherwise, be flung upon the bandmates.” – Bobby Bea, feeling-in drum tech for Humms drummer, Bleech.

“I cut my teeth on Skiffle, & I can admit when I’ve enjoyed an experience [producing the Humms], although I’m not sure I’d sign on for another [record].” – Skud Harris, Producer.

The Humms, Pelzer Fuck Club, releases August 30th on Gypsy Farm Records.

Tape Feed generates over 1146 meals to Food Bank

Proceeds of Gypsy Farm’s latest release, GF012 – Tape Feed, Vol 1, have secured over 1,146 meals through donations to Feeding America, a nonprofit organization networking with around 200 Food Banks throughout the United States.

This of course, was made possible, not only by Feeding America’s excellent farmer-food bank relationship, but by you, the listener. Thank you for your support!

Tape Feed, Vol 1 is a cassette that features exclusive tracks from Vincas, Sea Of Dogs, Old Smokey, The Humms & many more.

With a digital version included, the tape is currently available & proceeds of all purchases will be donated to Feeding America!

WATCH: The Humms “Forward Cue” video

Taken from their most recent album Vampire Hours, the Humms submit a change of weather with the strikingly somber tune, Forward Cue.

GF manager and confidant, W.JAY undertook the task of compiling over a decade’s worth of footage, packed into the song’s 3:23 window.

Of the notable clips included, viewers may recognize several blasts from the past including the band’s infamous practice trailer, where several early works were tracked, such as 2008’s Talking To A Ghost.

RELEASE: Tape Feed, Vol: 1

Introducing… a tape that feeds!

After last year’s successful donation to the local food bank, we staffed our producer Willie Shears with the task of assembling years worth of various recordings from deep within the Gypsy Farm vault into a tangible compilation for your enjoyment but also, the benefit of Feeding America, a nonprofit organization networking with 200 food banks.

The result is Tape Feed, Vol: 1. Each limited edition cassette is a direct, real-time copy of the original hi-fee-fi-fo-fum master recordings and even include a digital download to boot.

With appearances by Old Smokey, Vincas, Nate & the Nightmares, the Humms, Sea of Dogs, Sweet Auburn String Band, 432 Sessions, Pine Tar Rage, Koko Beware & the Haunted Head.

Shears’ selection of GF recordings span a whole decade from 2010 through 2020, and all in all recorded at GF-HQ with the exception of Nate & The Nightmares – Everyday recorded live at Georgia theatre in 2014 while opening for Charles Bradley.

With exclusive tracks like Vincas – Phantasma (Live at Gypsy Farm) and the traditional bluegrass arrangements of 432 sessions – Buffalo Skinners (Jed & Harry Clark, Cory Walker & Jeff Partin) you can rest assured that it’s going to be an eclectic sum of tracks.

Enjoy Tape Feed, Vol 1 and simultaneously help deflect hunger, food waste & climate change by donating to the local food bank.

Release: Uncle Goo – “Cattywampus!!!”

Almost one year since the release of Uncle Goo’s debut album Country Strange, VOL 1 we are now excited to announce the premiere of his second album titled “Cattywampus!!!”.

Recording commenced earlier this year directly after the release of Country Strange and carried on through the summer.

Two singles were leaked prior to this official release: “This Heat” b/w “When I Die (Bury Me at the Waffle House)“.

Both singles were welcomed with open arms by the community far and wide thanks in part to heavy rotation by local DJ “Porkchop” on 92.1 WLHR via “The Breakfast with Porkchop Show”

“While the first record was soaked knee-deep with an ‘outlaw’ country-sound,  Goo stressed that he wanted to go more into a ‘southern-country-rock” vibe on this effort and what we got is ‘Cattywampus!!!” – WJAY (GF correspondent)

goo poster side

Uncle Goo and his band (The Country Dragons) will be performing one-night-only in Hartwell, GA at RACK’S Lakeside Bar & Grill (formally Swamp Guinea) to celebrate the release.  The show is free and will begin at 8pm.

T.S. WOODWARD to preview “How To Breathe Underwater” Album at UGA / April 1st

11124703_607663599366809_7540541032450466450_n

The first day of April has long been remembered as “All Fools’ Day” for many reasons.  However, exempt from that list of foolery is one T.S. Woodward, whom you may have spotted traveling around the classic city; mid-way through his tango-of-death with 88 keys.  Woodward made an “official” debut in 2013 with the release of Dominar’s “BLUE RIBBON” music video.  Since then, he has been hard at work on an album of recordings that will ultimately be submitted as his senior thesis in Popular Music Composition, a degree that Woodward designed himself.   The finished album is titled “How to Breathe Underwater” and it will premiere on April 1st @ exactly 5PM for one showing only in The Dancz Center for New Music on the 2nd floor of UGA’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music.

To better explain the situation, we requested a statement and the following descended upon the field at Gypsy Farm late last week, attached to a fast-dwindling balloon, it read :

“A few years ago I created my own major at UGA; I did this by outlining a unique path of study which was specific to my interests and incorporated upper level coursework from the departments of Music Composition, Creative Writing, and Music Business. Additionally, I proposed a senior thesis project which would require me to write, record, and produce a full length “album” of original material, the graded submission of which (alongside an academic paper) would ultimately determine whether or not I graduate. This major is called Popular Music Composition, and on Wednesday, April 1st, at exactly 5PM within the grand hall of The Dancz Center for New Music, the question of my graduation will finally be answered as I present my completed thesis, How to Breathe Underwater, in front of a live studio audience and my 3 esteemed committee members, Dr. Valdez, Dr. Pavlic, and Mr. David Barbe.

The first half of this recital will consist of the world premiere of my thesis, How to Breathe Underwater, in the form of a stereophonic playback of the 28 minute album in its entirety from start to finish and without pause. This is not an “album release” but rather an exclusive public screening of the album before the inevitable waiting period to get it pressed and distributed to record stores. It is worth noting that The Dancz Center for New Music, aka The Black Box, is the same state-of-the-art performance hall in which the majority of this work was recorded and mixed and is therefore the ideal place in which to listen to it.

The second half of this recital will consist of a live performance of B-sides and other material written by T.S. Woodward, performed by himself at the piano and with the help of his friends, The Phantasmagoric Chamber Orchestra, whose makeup is as follows:

Zeke Sayer – Drumset
Matthew Garrison – Upright Bass
Nicholas Mallis – Electric Guitar
Dave Kirslis – Acoustic Guitar
Jeff Webber – Synthesizer
Ember Remliel – Backup vocals

This performance will be recorded and archived by the hardworking composition staff at UGA, as well as by my talented friends and colleagues Mr. Neal Warner & Alex Kroh.

TS piano

I would like to note that none of this is or would be possible without the graciousness and support of those closest to me both inside and out of The University of Georgia. And so…

It is with the utmost pleasure and excitement that I invite you to please join me for this one of a kind performance of a work that is representative of years of study and labor… whose surreal nature has been at once borne out of and painstakingly constructed atop the ruins of my dreams and nightmares… and which was conceived during the quiet, borrowed hours between midnight and dawn within the hallowed halls of The Hugh Hodgson School of Music.”
