NOTE: This event has been cancelled as of 03/13/20

The undisputed champion of country strange, Uncle Goo will return to Athens, GA on March 15th with his band, The Country Dragons (members of The Humms, Shoal Creek Stranglers) and play a special Sunday show at the World Famous bar for any and all patrons whom opt on staying in town during the SXSW season.

Goo will be joined by fellow psychedelic surfers, Outersea (members of Hot Fudge, Lydia Brambila) and gypsy garage rockers, Ancient Ethel – the latter of which just embarked on a 12-date southeastern tour of the US beginning tonight at Fleetwoods in Asheville, NC and rolling on through March 19th at Augusta’s beloved Soul Bar.

Release: Uncle Goo – “Cattywampus!!!”

Almost one year since the release of Uncle Goo’s debut album Country Strange, VOL 1 we are now excited to announce the premiere of his second album titled “Cattywampus!!!”.

Recording commenced earlier this year directly after the release of Country Strange and carried on through the summer.

Two singles were leaked prior to this official release: “This Heat” b/w “When I Die (Bury Me at the Waffle House)“.

Both singles were welcomed with open arms by the community far and wide thanks in part to heavy rotation by local DJ “Porkchop” on 92.1 WLHR via “The Breakfast with Porkchop Show”

“While the first record was soaked knee-deep with an ‘outlaw’ country-sound,  Goo stressed that he wanted to go more into a ‘southern-country-rock” vibe on this effort and what we got is ‘Cattywampus!!!” – WJAY (GF correspondent)

Uncle Goo and his band (The Country Dragons) will be performing one-night-only in Hartwell, GA at RACK’S Lakeside Bar & Grill (formally Swamp Guinea) to celebrate the release.  The show is free and will begin at 8pm.

Premiere: New ‘Uncle Goo’ Song and album

Hotter than a double order of jalapeno hash browns, Garrett Carpenter (AKA Uncle Goo) has just unleashed a brand new tune titled “When I Die (Bury Me at the Waffle House)” – his second single from upcoming record, Cattywampus!!! – in stores everywhere October 15th via Gypsy Farm Records.

Carpenter says “When I die, don’t be sad.  Though you want to, don’t cry.  I’ll be gone but I’ll be here all the same.  I don’t want no one to spend a lot of money to honor me.  I don’t need no stone with my name.  When I die, bury me down at the Waffle house”.

Waffle House C.E.O Walt Ehmer and upper management were unavailable for comment at press time however, top-ranking waitress “Miss Moselle” was quoted saying “Anyone that comes in here and mentions Uncle Goo’s new song will receive a bowl of Bert’s famous chili at full price”.

Uncle Goo’s new record “Cattywampus!!!” will be his second album to come out in less than one year, after January’s “Country Strange: Vol 1” saw Goo receive much deserved praise for his songwriting and a one-of-a-kind live performance at the oldest Strip Club in Georgia – The Clermont Lounge.

You can catch Uncle Goo & The Country Dragons live and in person one night only this October 25th at “Racks” (Formally Swamp Guinea) in Hartwell, GA.

Exclusive interview with Uncle Goo

Fresh off his debut [Country Strange Vol. 1] earlier this year, Uncle Goo is once again grinding out another batch of his famous country + western tunes.  His latest single “This Heat” is due out August 13th on Gypsy Farm Records.

Uncle Goo took a few moments away from his recent recording session at Gypsy Farm to dip into Shoal Creek and ponder on his living in Georgia as well as a favorite scene from the Johnny Cash bio-pic “Walk The Line”.

During the interview, Goo is joined by canine companions “Dash” and “Rufus” before giving a joyful rendition of Cash’s “Tennessee Stud” live from Shoal Creek.  Watch and share the full interview via youtube link below:

Stream: Country Strange – Vol 1

Debuting high on the parkertown yodel-charts this morning comes “Country Strange Vol. 1” featuring a modest collection of original country songs pinned by long-running Gypsy Farm associate Uncle Goo a.k.a Garrett Chase Carpenter.  We first got a taste of this sweet medicine back in the ladder part of 2018 with the release of two singles “I’m Tired” b/w “Mallory”.

“It’s all here folks – country and western tunes of loathe, love and gout.” says associate producer and graphic designer WJAY.  As per usual, the standard GF band of cronies provide solid backing through-out the entire playlist given wing with the addition of pedal steel picker Matt “Pistol” Stoessel and lead guitarist Jake Stargel.

Country Strange Vol. 1 is available January 2nd on all streaming platforms including bandcamp and digipak CD.

Tune in to 92.1 FM WLHR Lake Hartwell Radio on January 4th to hear local DJ Porkchop sit down for an interview with Uncle Goo at 9:30am!
