Taken from their most recent album Vampire Hours, the Humms submit a change of weather with the strikingly somber tune, Forward Cue.
GF manager and confidant, W.JAY undertook the task of compiling over a decade’s worth of footage, packed into the song’s 3:23 window.
Of the notable clips included, viewers may recognize several blasts from the past including the band’s infamous practice trailer, where several early works were tracked, such as 2008’s Talking To A Ghost.
Every now & again, between cigarette breaks, after the show, the recording machine will be left unattended and running. Sometimes, we end up with what, more often than not, becomes some sort of cherished artifact for the GF archive.
Remembering one such time when the Shoal Creek Stranglers would pick & lick their way through Sinful Sunday Singings, a free show & supper combo hosted at various churches in the Georgia & South Carolina area.
It was an occasion when associates would track their own performance, at times unbeknownst to them.
We’re proud to present one such artifact, a tune that is all too relevant.
Performed on the spot by Reverend Douglas Brown, Death Ain’t No Big Deal.
Long-time correspondent and GF recording artist, Garett Hatch (Mother The Car, Nate & The Nightmares, Ancient Ethel) delighted us earlier this year with the sudden release of his first solo album, “Place Without a Name” conceived, written and recorded while under quarantine in Asheville.

“Hatch’s first official solo effort, titled “Place Without A Name” showcases a range of different styles and features the piano-wizardry of Mark Plemmons among several other musical guests. The album is set to be an enjoyable experience for the listener.” –Plez Jay
Then, Hatch surprised everyone with an immediate follow up, titled “Home” and it’s packed with supreme musical guests Annie Leeth, Casey Trivett and Stephen Britt, featuring artwork by Michelle Kaiser.
Garett Hatch’s “Home” is due out Oct 20th, stream and share the album via bandcamp:
Debuting high on the parkertown yodel-charts this morning comes “Country Strange Vol. 1” featuring a modest collection of original country songs pinned by long-running Gypsy Farm associate Uncle Goo a.k.a Garrett Chase Carpenter. We first got a taste of this sweet medicine back in the ladder part of 2018 with the release of two singles “I’m Tired” b/w “Mallory”.
“It’s all here folks – country and western tunes of loathe, love and gout.” says associate producer and graphic designer WJAY. As per usual, the standard GF band of cronies provide solid backing through-out the entire playlist given wing with the addition of pedal steel picker Matt “Pistol” Stoessel and lead guitarist Jake Stargel.
Country Strange Vol. 1 is available January 2nd on all streaming platforms including bandcamp and digipak CD.
