Release: Tape Feed, Volume 2

Following last year’s volume one, we are pleased to announce the sequel, Tape Feed, Vol 2 will release October 3rd, on Gypsy Farm.

Tape Feed is a compilation cassette + digital release, curated by Gypsy Farm, & made possible by the Athens Area Arts Council with a goal of raising donations for the food bank (Feeding America), helping to fight hunger & food waste.

Volume 1, released in 2021, served over 1,200 meals via contributions from the cassette.

Causes come, go, & change as quick as the wind” says GF associate Willie Shears.

“But one thing that remains constant is that we’ve all got to eat to get anything done.”

Volume 2 is packed with Gypsy Farm favorites including: Thee Crucials, Tommy Powell, Outersea, The Bear Traps, Marble Soup, Bat & The Bears, The Humms, Shoal Creek Stranglers & several others that make up this 11-song release.

Cassettes include a digital download/streaming copy of the mixtape and may be obtained through GF’s bandcamp store & at participating locations.

New Release: Rock and Raw: Vol. 2

Earlier today, the cassette sector of Gypsy Farm released a statement claiming their machines are “fired up” and running momentarily to produce a “super short-run” follow up to 2018’s now out-of print compilation album, Rock and Raw.

The first volume was an even shorter-run tape release, only circulated privately among the bands involved and friends.

Rock and Raw: Vol. 2 is packed with past and current artists of the label roster and comes loaded with the newest single out from the Humms unreleased album, Vampire Hours.

Opening with Bat & The Bears – “Kromp”, an urgent breakbeat style of composition brushed with samples of old gospel choir recordings.

That segues delightfully into the raunchy sludge of distortion that is The Honey Sliders tune “Fucking And Fighting”. This mixtape is sure to liven up the cooler-conversation if played in the workplace.

Vol. 2 is currently unavailable on streaming platforms and may only be purchased via our GF HOTLINE (706-356-5638), email or messaging our social media profiles

Stream : The Ice Creams EP

The Ice Creams were formed as a recording project some ten years ago in November of 2008 as the “long forgotten bastard side-child” of Athens garage group The Humms and self proclaimed “Scooby Punk-rockers” are ecstatic to finally announce the first release since their limited edition single via Gumball Machine Records.

The long awaited extended player is comprised of 6-songs making up the self titled record [The Ice Creams EP]

“Here’s a newly posted video from a group called The Ice Creams, for a little ditty titled ‘Everyone’s Got a Skeleton.’ The band, which features Zeke Sayer and Matthew Garrison of local band The Humms as well as drummer Stephen Findley, plays a slightly more saccharine version of The Humms’ earworm-y garage-punk, impossibly catchy and lean as white meat.” – Gabe Vodicka – Flagpole magazine

The Ice Creams EP drops on November 13th via Gypsy Farm Records but you can pre-order and stream the EP now in it’s entirety below via bandcamp.

Athens GA “Scooby Pop” outfit known as “THE ICE CREAMS” have released a music video in percolation to their long-over due Gypsy single “Everyone’s Got A Skeleton“, slated for release later this year.

The skeleton song in particular is a chop-charmed blend of 50’s pop that could be collecting dust on the shores of Leso Island, bound by it’s barbaric beat.

Folks first caught sound of the band via Myface in 2008 and later, making their debut on 2012’s GYPNOSIS compilation.
