Gypsy correspondents confirmed that numerous assemblies have been taking place within the studio sector during this month and seem to entertain a slight promise of some strange (and exciting) projects that will finally be coming-to-light as time allows through out this year and next.

Rawk Show at The World Famous

Members of Timmy and the Tumblers and The HUMMS comprise new local instrumental surf-rock outfit The Cryptides, so you can rest easy knowing that incredible moniker is in capable hands. Early demos point towards a shockingly developed sound—a slinky, sexy swirl with just the right smear of dirt. The newly formed Jones Maintenance All-Stars is a hybrid group of sorts featuring members of Nate and the Nightmares and Free Associates; the Nightmares’ Nate Mitchell tells Flagpole the band will be “playing a mix of originals and classic rock and roll cover songs.” The Rodney Kings will be on hand to provide a jolt of punk power, and appropriately capping off a night of throwback jams is a DJ set from local vinyl guru Kurt Wood.

RODNEY KINGS / TOUR KICK OFF

THE RODNEY KINGS are kicking off an 11-date East-ghost Tour starting Friday night at-the-soon to be closing, FARM 255 in Athens GA. Supporting acts for the classic city date include The Cryptides, NATE and the NIGHTMARES and MansTrash. Show starts at 11pm. Catch them during the next 2 weeks in Athens, Augusta, Chapel Hill, Virginia Beach, Richmond, DC, Philly and Brooklyn. GFRK FEST 2013 RETURNS

One year ago, three houses in Athens GA were overran by a musical orgy of Garage Raw, Pop, Punk and Strange – and it was known as “RODNEY LUTHER KING / GYPSY FARM FEST” and despite last year’s noise violation SIGH’TATION, we’re happy to say it will be happening again for the 2nd annual time– and we’ve added a 4th night!

SSStarting THIS THURSDAY night at FLICKER Barin downtown Athens, followed by Freaky Fryday at the FARM 255 before moving over to Tibbett St on Saturday, ending with the Secret SWAMP on Sunday, SUNDAY.

RODNEY KINGS 7″ COMING SOON on GF

Athens’ own trio of chaos curators are at it again, THE RODNEY KINGS are making their voyage back to GF studio to cut two sides of pure poppin punk for our next issue release #GF004 – The Rodney Kings / IRENE 7-INCH. Sometime earlier this month, GF Armed guards hand-delivered the official MASTERS to the pressing plant and we are currently awaiting approval of the test prints.
